Our Client
Our client are a small but strong growth finance lender to European, venture backed, technology companies. To date, they have invested in over 70 exciting, high growth companies across Europe with an investment range between €2 million and €20 million. We are looking for a passionate, intelligent candidate to join as an Analyst. You will have the opportunity to work on new investments, gain investment expertise and play a role in investment decisions.
The role of Venture Debt Analyst
This role would suit a recent graduate (up to 3 years work experience) or current final year student graduating this summer.
Responsibilities as a Venture Debt Analyst
- Researching and speaking to potential portfolio companies
- Conducting initial screenings of investment opportunities
- Working alongside the investment team to prepare memos to be presented to the group investment committee.
- This is a highly autonomous role and as a result, you must be highly driven and able to think critically under pressure.
- Cover specific European regions and research to identify high growth technology companies which fit within the investment thesis
- Engage with executives (founder, CEO, CFO) at these companies
- Conduct initial screening of opportunities through research and initial company contact
- For opportunities you uncover, helping to underwrite investments and prepare memos to be presented to the investment committee
- Maintain regular dialogue with companies fitting the companies investment thesis
- Engage in discussions with the investment team by evaluating the key merits and risk & mitigants of investing in the company supported by own research
- Help structure new debt investments for prospects which you have uncovered
- Engage in regular research and reading to stay apprised about the state of the European venture ecosystem, economy, global financial markets, and general current events
Requirements of a Venture Debt Analyst
- A relevant bachelor's degree from a reputable university
- Up to 3 years experience within a role with a strong focus around financial analysis
- Excellent interpersonal skills with desire and ability to carry a conversation with company executives
- Strong research skills
- Self-starter with a proven ability to work to the highest standards in both a team setting and individually
- High level of curiosity with an interest in technology companies
- Decision making and problem solving
- Ability to think logically
- Work in a team and collaborate effectively
- Ambition and enthusiasm within the role
- Verbal and written communication skills with additional European languages encouraged but not essential
