Job Description

Sales Associate Director

At Campden BRI we are proud to support our 2,500+ members, covering 82 countries across the food and drink industries, from ‘farm to fork’: manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers. We do this through offering a wide range of services:

  • Analytical analysis and testing services (chemistry, biochemistry and microbiology)
  • Technical manufacturing consultancy and training
  • Quality, safety and regulatory advice and consultancy
  • Research and product development


We’re looking to recruit a passionate commercial Sales Associate Director to support & grow our existing client relationships, identify and deliver a pipeline of work into the above business units, with a focus on volume and margin. You would provide leadership and drive performance with our sales & account management and membership teams and collaborating closely with our internal technical experts to support the delivery of departmental strategies.


You will work closely with our CEO to support Campden BRI 3-year strategy to increase revenue, profit and market share whilst ensuring the highest standards of customer service.


Role -Sales Associate Director

  • Leadership of the sales and membership teams.Accountability for delivery to target and KPI’s.
  • Work collaboratively with the business unit leaders to plan sales activities to support business delivery and ensure that work is targeted to maintain the pipeline required across the different service areas.
  • Maintain connected to the external market to identify opportunities for Campden BRI services and growing our impact in the food and drink industry.
  • Be a champion for customers and drive customer centricity across the business.


Sales Associate Director experience required

  • An experienced leader, highly competent in designing and delivering a sales plan aligned to business needs.
  • Customer centric individual who can ensure a consistently high customer experience is delivered.
  • Experience of the needs and wants of the food and drink industry in order to talk in the customer’s language and translate our services into a valuable package to meet their needs.
  • Proven track record of selling scientific services in the food and drink industry, with a deep understanding of the analytical services, microbiology, and technology.
  • Experience of leading a sales team, coaching, advising and managing performance to a high standard.
  • Flexible approach to delivering a plan and adapting to opportunities as they arise in the industry.
  • Able to give expert advice and guidance to the scientific areas about how to bundle services to add value to our customers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a particular skill around positively engaging and collaborating with technical experts.
  • Previous experience of tactical marketing and the ability to help shape a marketing plan to support sales activity and build brand recognition (working with the marketing team)
  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of running a service-based organisation and the strategic commercial drivers of a medium sized business.
  • Ability to contribute and drive the whole organisation as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • A proven influencer with outstanding collaborative people skills and highly developed specialist knowledge.
  • Outstanding communication skills.


Demonstrable skills in: -

Strategic Thinking, Leadership, Communications, Stakeholder Management, Commercial Acumen and Commercial Management Experience

  • Business-to-Business sales experience; 10yrs +
  • Marketing, ecommerce, digital communications, branding and insights, B2B account management.
  • An understanding of the workings of membership organisations.
  • Deep experience of the food and drink industry
  • Understanding of Client Experience
  • Degree in relevant science or technology-based subject
  • Experience in developing and managing teams.
