Your role

We are currently seeking a motivated Health & Safety and Compliance Specialist to assist our Compliance and Quality Manager in ensuring that our organisation adheres to all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance and health and safety (H&S) policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist in monitoring and updating the organisations compliance with legal, regulatory and internal requirements
• Support the review and implementation of company policies and procedures to align with regulatory changes and best practices
• Maintain comprehensive records of compliance documentation, including audits, training, risk assessments, and safety inspections
• Prepare documentation and reports for internal and external audits
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure company-wide compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
• Assist in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential workplace hazards.
• Support the development and implementation of H&S policies in compliance with UK H&S regulations (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974)
• Help coordinate and deliver H&S training to employees (e.g., fire safety, manual handling, first aid)
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and assist in investigations to identify root causes
• Monitor and report on the organisation’s H&S performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Organise and maintain compliance and H&S records, including certifications, permits, and training logs
• Coordinate the scheduling of audits, inspections, and training sessions
• Assist in preparing reports for senior management on compliance and H&S matters
• Provide general administrative support to the Compliance and Quality Manager

What we're looking for

Pico Technology is looking for someone who has an interest and understanding of either compliance or health and safety to take on this position. We want to be able to grow and nurture this person whilst they take on the opportunity of developing their knowledge and skill set in both H&S and compliance. Ideally someone with a National General Certificate NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or the desire to complete the course.

We are looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented candidate who is committed to getting the job done efficiently and effectively. While experience in compliance or H&S is advantageous, what matters most is your ability to communicate clearly and concisely while managing a busy workload. Strong organisational skills and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

The ideal candidate will excel in collaboration, working seamlessly with various teams and stakeholders to build positive working relationships.
