Women’s Freelance Jersey junior designer

Women’s Soft Separates junior designer

These are to support a successful fashion retailer. We are looking for a commercial trend led designer with a focus on jersey or soft separates. The successful candidates will be part of a talented and growing team and will need to be confident to participate in customer meetings.

The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years design experience in womenswear from either a retailer or supplier.

Main Responsibilities will include:

• You will identify and translate the must-have trends for the product category.
• Understand garment construction and production constraints.
• Sourcing new fabrics and developing newness.
• Produce detailed tech packs and liaise with overseas factories.
• Develop new trims and fabrics.
• Identify and update bestsellers to drive repeat business.
• Manage Sampling and Development of Critical Path.

Person Specification:

• Must have at least 4 years of designing commercial products.
• Fashion Design qualification, with previous experience as an Womenswear Designer in a high street fashion retailer and supplier.
• A strong background and understanding on fabrication
• Experienced in working with international suppliers and knowledgeable in fabrics and construction.
• Confident presenting to a team and clearly demonstrates where your inspiration is coming from
• Excellent CAD skills ideally with Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Able to work on your own - take initiative and work as part of a team.
