Job Description
A globally-renowned materials manufacturing business is recruiting a Materials Manager to join its supply chain team based in Cambridge on a permanent basis. As their Materials Manager, will oversee key supply chain functions with a focus on operational excellence and environmental responsibility.
Materials Manager responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to site supply chain management aligned with EHS policies and environmental protection protocols.
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the site Supply Chain team to consistently deliver efficient and timely supply chain solutions.
- Manage the site's Master Production Plan in collaboration with the Plant Manager and European Supply Chain Manager.
- Develop robust production schedules with risk assessments to optimise customer service levels and plant efficiency.
- Implement replenishment strategies to achieve agreed inventory levels for raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing operations to maximise customer service and on-time delivery.
- Partner with plant management on initiatives to enhance throughput, quality, and efficiency.
- Lead local supply chain improvement projects to drive operational excellence.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent and reliable material supply for production and site activities.
- Develop talent within the Supply Chain function through effective coaching and talent development plans in collaboration with Regional/Global teams.
Materials Manager requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive supply chain experience in a senior operational role within a multinational organisation.
- CPIM and/or CSCP certification (APICS) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills within a multicultural environment.
- Proven ability to motivate and collaborate across different organisational levels.
- Experience leading improvement programs in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of raw material planning, procurement, scheduling, and inventory control systems.
- Familiarity with AX2012 systems is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel internationally 10 – 15% of the time.
