About the Company:
Our client, a well-established company specialising in the design and manufacture of electrical switchgear, is seeking a skilled Technical Administrator to join their team based in Luton. Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly organised and technically proficient Technical Administrator to support our client’s production and procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs). You will be responsible for creating detailed technical instructions for production, as well as managing the procurement of electrical and mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Documentation:

Interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to produce clear, accurate production instructions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for manufacturing processes.
Update records with engineering changes and ensure all technical documents are current.

Production Support:

Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure the smooth transfer of technical information to production teams.
Provide technical assistance to production staff to ensure correct implementation of instructions and specifications.

Procurement & Buying:

Source and purchase electrical and mechanical components required for production.
Manage supplier relationships, negotiate prices, and track the timely delivery of materials.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure production schedules are met without delays.
Work with finance to ensure that procurement activities stay within budget.

Administrative Support:

Maintain and update technical databases and documentation.
Track project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure smooth operations.
Prepare reports and data analysis for management when required.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Technical Administrator, Production Coordinator, or in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical components, ideally in a switchgear or similar industry.
Excellent administrative skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Experience in procurement, including vendor management and negotiating terms.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
