About the role

Reporting to the Transport Planning Manager, the Transport Planning Assistant is a key strategic role within the Water Business Unit. Transport is a large cost to the business and the individual will be required to help deliver change to reduce our transport costs as a % of our sales. You will be required to report to the Senior Team and therefore you will need to have a full understanding of the monthly costs, trends, issues, and opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen understanding of supply chain dynamics, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Support planning of all transport leaving Aston Clinton site, including EU/ROW, ensuring most effective load planning for EU/ROW all export / custom requirements.
• Support East Kilbride planning in times of absence/holiday.
• Collaborate with other departments to move deliveries around to ensure optimum load utilisation and to ensure products are available for despatch on time.
• Support controlling variable costs, including driver’s wages, fuel, 3PL hauliers.
• Assist with monthly reporting, KPIs, issues and opportunities and help deliver change to improve transport costs.
• Assist Planning Manager to ensure Kingspan operate in line with all CPC requirements and ensure the fleet is operating in line with O/L conditions and safety standards.
• Assist with setting up various warehouses, distribution hubs and distribution networks, where needed to meet with our customer’s delivery expectations at the lowest achievable cost.
• Develop a ‘right first -time culture’ in the distribution of our products and ensure maximum customer satisfaction through the service provided.
• Support the Planning Manager in managing the performance of our delivery partners through KPIs and meet with delivery partners to ensure best possible prices achievable.
• Liaise with haulage companies to ensure timely collections where applicable
• Ensure all despatch paperwork, delivery notes and purchase orders are done in a timely manner in line with financial control requirements.
• Raising credit requests as required.
• Ensure all scanning and filing POD’s is maintained, support the business in identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Skills

• Strong understanding of supply chain principles and logistics management.
• Knowledge of route planning and working experience of despatch processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong customer service orientation with a focus on meeting client needs.
• High level of computer literacy with the ability to adapt to various IT systems.
• Organised approach to managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to drive initiatives that enhance operational efficiency within the transport sector
