Cyber Underwriting Manager

We are currently looking for a Cyber Underwriting Manager to be based in one of our UK offices on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Marine & Specialty.

For the Cyber Line of Business, within Munich Re Specialty Global Markets UK, you will be responsible for:

• Setting the strategy, underwriting appetite and updating annually the underwriting guides,
• Ensuring the prudent underwriting of quality business in line with business plan and risk appetite
• Facilitating maximum return of profit while maintaining the company’s reputation and integrity
• Demonstrating care for customers and respect for the regulatory obligations of the company.
• Collaborating with other relevant functions within Munich Re Specialty Global Markets UK, MRSI (UK) and MRSG as required, to achieve profit revenue and customer service goals.

Responsibilities:

• Work within delegated authority levels set and agree the underwriting strategy and underwriting appetite with the Head of Marine & Specialty, deal with referrals and technical issues internally and externally.
• Provide direction and technical input into maintaining a market leading proposition for Cyber.
• Develop appropriate technical skills in teams and individuals to meet the changing needs of Munich Re Specialty Global Markets UK’s trading decisions.
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships with Senior Management colleagues, Operations, Commercial and Technical functions, centralised resources and the Syndicate, other MRSG IDCs and other MR Group companies
• Develop underwriting response and solutions to social, economic and market developments.
• Provide reports and other Management Information to the Head of Marine & Specialty or MRSI (UK) Exco as and when required.
• Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders

Knowledge and Skills

• Extensive knowledge of the Line of Business.
• Extensive underwriting and account management experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate and implement the strategy internally and externally.
• Ability to handle extensive and diverse referrals from internal and external sources.
• Ability to keep updated with market changes and competitor’s products and services.
