Job Ad: ASD Teaching Assistant (KS3/4) - Barnet
Prospero Teaching is on the lookout for an experienced Austism Spectrum Disorder Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting a Secondary School in Barnet, North London.
Role Insight
You'll be working with students who have SEN to various factors such as:
SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)
ADHD
ASD
MLD
Undiagnosed SEN
Position Overview
Days & Hours:
· Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Start Date: ASAP (Immediate trials available)
Salary: GBP90-GBP100 per day
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Location: Barnet, North London
Key Responsibilities:
· Academic Support: Help students engage with their learning.
· Emotional Support: Foster a safe, supportive environment for emotional well-being.
· Teamwork: Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored learning experiences.
· Behaviour Management: Guide students in managing behaviour and achieving progress.
What You'll Bring:
· Strong Behavioural Management: Calmly handle extreme behaviours.
· Compassion & Empathy: Understand the impact of SEMH, PTSD, and SEN.
· Positive Relationships: Build trust with students, supporting them academically and emotionally.
· Communication Skills: Collaborate effectively with the team.
· Adaptability: Handle challenges with flexibility.
· Team Teach Training: Desirable but not essential - training for managing physical behaviour.
Requirements:
· Enhanced DBS (on the update service)
· Right to work in the UK
· Experience working with challenging behaviours, SEMH, and related needs.
