AIX Administrator - Patch Management

Experience : - Proposed L3 resources must have a minimum 5 years' experience in the respective domain such as Power Server and HMC with respective IBM certifications. - Should be well versed with technologies such as LPAR, PowerVC, PowerSC, Tivoli Backup etc - Should be well versed with operating System such as AIX, UNIX, Linux, Solaris and MS Windows and Host Bus Adapter concepts etc. - Good scripting knowledge in (Perl and Shell) - Good knowledge in ITIL frame work on Incident, Problem, Change management & Service request management. Role for Server Administrator (OEM resource) : - Administration and management of IBM Power Servers, Hardware Management Console (HMC) - as installed at Bank (existing and proposed) - Monitoring the consumption of various applications deployed under POWER VC, POWER SC and providing reports to Bank at predefined intervals - Performance Tuning : Monitor and optimize system performance, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance overall system efficiency. - Security Management : Implement and manage security measures to protect AIX systems, including user access controls, authentication, and authorization. - Patch and Upgrade Management : Plan and execute AIX system patches, updates, and version upgrades in a controlled and efficient manner to ensure system stability and security. - Should carry out quarterly patching/upgradation of firmware / OS version / Technology Level (TL) & Service Pack (SP) upgrade - High Availability and Disaster Recovery : Configure and manage high availability solutions such as PowerHA (HACMP) to ensure continuous availability of critical applications. Develop and test disaster recovery procedures. - Backup and restore : Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity. - Scripting and Automation : Develop and maintain scripts (Shell, Perl, etc.) for automating routine tasks and streamlining system management processes. - Troubleshooting : Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex system issues, including hardware, software, and network-related problems. - Capacity Planning : Conduct capacity-planning assessments to ensure AIX systems meet current and future performance requirements. - Collaboration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application developers, network engineers, and database administrators, to address system-related challenges and implement solutions. - Maintain inventory of workload templates & LPAR templates (for quick deployment when required) - Monitor events from Power VC & Power SC - Backup of Power VC & Power SC data - Keep track of Power VC updates - Keep track of Power VC updates - Inventory Management - Logging monitoring - Periodical Patch management/firmware upgradation - Manage/ follow up on support calls/ PMRs, ticket handling of compute and storage, for Severity 1 affecting production - Follow up on preventive health checkups - Interface with IBM support teams for planning and monitoring of critical patch updates - LUN mapping of compute as per inputs received from the bank based on consumption patterns. - Monthly Usage Report preparation and submission - Governance and Reporting on monthly basis. - Should help Bank team to develops, document and maintain operational process and tasks through standard operating procedures (SOP) - Any other support & services related to Server installation & overall maintenance.
