Customer Service Officer - Local Council


Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and resolving inquiries in a professional and timely manner? Do you have strong experience in handling complaints and a desire to make a positive impact in the community? If so, we want to hear from you!


About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our local council as a Customer Service Officer. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for residents, handling inquiries, providing information, and managing complaints to ensure a high standard of service is maintained.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.

  • Handle complaints with a calm and solutions-focused approach, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.

  • Provide accurate information on council services, policies, and procedures.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of customer interactions and complaints in the council's CRM system.

  • Work collaboratively with other council departments to resolve customer issues.

  • Assist with general administrative tasks as required.


Key Selection Criteria:



  • Proven experience in a customer service role, ideally within a local council or public sector environment.

  • Strong complaints handling skills, with the ability to de-escalate and resolve issues effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and internal teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using CRM systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Government / Council experience is a must!
