Job Title: Landfill Spotter
Location: Wellington City Council Landfill
- Part time weekend work: Saturday and Sunday 9-5pm. with a 30-minute paid lunch break and 2x 15-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon
The Role: As a Spotter at the Wellington City Council Landfill, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Vigilantly observing customers at the transfer station to detect any signs of potential attempts to enter the waste pit.
- Promptly sounding an alarm and informing the loader driver via radio in the event of any suspicious customer behavior.
- Reporting all witnessed attempts to enter the waste pit to transfer station staff and documenting them in the daily log sheet at the end of each day.
- Reporting any other observed health and safety incidents to transfer station staff for internal safety reporting.
Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Access to a vehicle (or reliable transportation) to commute to and from work.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in radio communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Please note that there is no public transport, pedestrian, or cycle access up the road leading to our site, making personal transportation essential for this role.
