(Senior) Test Engineer - APS5/ APS6 Contract
Overview of Proposed Services.
- Test Engineers ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines
- Test Engineers use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less experienced testers. Test Engineers work under the general direction and support of senior staff. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. They plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies
- Senior Test Engineers ensure that ICT solutions improve quality, performance, architectural and functional requirements and are fit for business purpose
- Senior Test Engineers ensure that all test effort activities are effectively completed and carried out in accordance with agreed test guidelines
- Senior Test Engineers work under the limited direction of senior staff. They exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision making is dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge
- Senior Test Engineers manage and organise their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business
Candidate Selection Criteria
Test Engineer (APS5 Equivalent Level)
Mandatory Criteria
- A minimum of 12 months experience and proven understanding of ICT System Testing experience in Government or large organisation of processes, procedures and use of test management tools.
Weighted Criteria
- Demonstrated experience and skills in creation and execution of complex test cases on appropriate testing platforms, using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications, and detailed business requirements
- Demonstrated experience in analysing, recording and documenting actions and test results, and reporting using preferred testing tools reporting unexpected or unsatisfactory outcomes and conducting defect management where required
- Demonstrated effective communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, utilising various forums such as Microsoft teams, email, training, presentations and technical documentation
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing projects during testing cycles, including monitoring and managing time and effort to ensure testing is running to project schedule and timelines
- Demonstrated experience in providing reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project including reports on system quality, environmental issues and the collection of metrics on test cases
Senior Test Engineer (APS6 Equivalent Level)

- A minimum of 2 years' experience and proven understanding of ICT System Testing in Government or large organisation of processes, procedures and use of test management tools
