About the Role: We are seeking an Indigenous Engagement and Project Officer to promote Indigenous perspectives and facilitate pathways into allied health for Indigenous youth in the Northern Territory. As a vital member of the Youth Engagement in Allied Health (YEAH) team, you will enhance community links with local schools, developing programs that empower young people to pursue allied health education, training and career pathways.

Your role will involve attending school expos, community events, and campus open days, collaborating with internal teams, local schools, and external partners.

The successful candidate will engage purposefully with individuals, families, and local communities, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, in a manner that is culturally respectful, equitable, and inclusive.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will:

• Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and be recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body.
• Hold a diploma and subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
• Demonstrate understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health and education. Demonstrate an ability to maintain networks and professional relationships across the NT, including with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
• Demonstrate capacity to deliver quality customer service.
• Demonstrate sound computer skills including experience with Microsoft suite of programmes.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT: At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health. Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card. The successful candidate will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait iIslander descent.
