About the Role
This is a Permanent Full Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within Koala Ward, Cardiac Surgery.
Part Time applicants fill be considered based on availability.
As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for contributing to the highest quality nursing care to patients, carers and families. You will join a team of dedicated nurses that provides family centered, safe, compassionate, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts, to facilitate optimal health outcomes to patients and families from across Australia.
Classification for this position will range from YP3 - YP9, Grade 2 Year 2 to Grade 2 Year 8 (FTE base salary $71,333 to $95,378 per annum, plus superannuation).
What you'll achieve:
- Undertake comprehensive holistic patient assessments and contributes to the development of careplans, ensuring alignment with best practice and the individual needs of patients and families
- Use critical thinking and analysis to plan evaluate and implement nursing care and undertakeinterventions that result in positive healthcare outcomes for the patient and their families
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to ensure coordinated patient care isefficient and supports functioning of healthcare systems
- Provide culturally and cognitively appropriate healthcare education to patients and their families onconditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current evidence-based practicesand advancements in nursing
Your skills and experience:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio.
- Current paediatric nursing or acute adult cardiac/renal experience is desirable.

About the Department
Koala Ward is a 30 bed unit, caring for cardiology, cardiac surgery and nephrology patients from across Australia. Koala Ward provides advanced cardiac and renal care including support for renal and heart transplantation, ventricular assist device and peritoneal dialysis. Koala Ward nursing staff work alongside a robust multidisciplinary team to support the care of critically unwell children with congential heart and renal disease.
