Job Description


This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing
  • As a Clinical Midwifery Specialist Grade 2 Team Leader, you will assist the Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) to lead and oversee the daily operations of the Core team of midwives working in a continuity of midwifery-led care model to achieve quality care outcomes for women and their families.

    How to Apply
    To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

    • Current Authority to practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and minimum 3 years full-time equivalent postgraduate midwifery experience.
    • Excellent competency and proficiency as a midwife in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding with an understanding of effective escalation and emergency midwifery care.
    • Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of patient care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Demonstrated skills in clinical leadership within a healthcare setting with experience supervising registered midwives, new graduate midwives and students
    • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team
    • Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
    • Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care.
