What you'll be doingWorking within a strength based, family centred and culturally centred trauma informed approach, this role will provide therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, and their non-offending family members. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, this role will provide quality services to patients /clients of NSW Health to meet their health and wellbeing needs.
The role will partner with the local sexual assault service to develop a deeper level of awareness and understanding of how to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people who may engage with these specific services. Working towards cultural competence is a responsibility of all Violence Abuse and Neglect staff.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by employer or completion of the ECAV pathway, with demonstrated cultural expertise.
- Demonstrated high level understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault and demonstrated experience in best practice model for working with young people and adults who have experienced sexual abuse / trauma.
- Demonstrated experience in, or commitment to, working with Aboriginal individuals who have experienced sexual assault and / or other forms of interpersonal violence and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
- Demonstrated commitment to specialist and cultural supervision and professional education and if relevant to application, experience providing clinical supervision and leading education and teaching to staff and/or students.
- Maintain high quality counselling and case management records in line with policy guidelines and directives.
- Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
