About the role
Thiess is seeking an experienced contracts professional to join our dynamic team, based in the Hunter Valley. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing and maintaining effective management and administration of subcontract and supply packages, ensuring controlled spending and minimized risk across our projects. You will also play a key role in developing business cases, making recommendations, providing justifications for subcontract works and supply contracts, and resolving contract disputes between subcontractors, suppliers, and projects. Additionally, you will:
- Compare and reconcile tender submissions in Felix to enable Management to understand costs and/or risks with the works. Review completeness, conformity, price variance, commercial departures, technical departures, H&S management, environment management, quality management, HR and IR management, local content, diversity, and innovative ideas.
- Assist in developing a business case, recommendations, and justification to obtain approval to proceed with the works/supply.
- Record and maintain the Contracts Portal to manage contract numbers and expiry, ensuring compliance with commercial and legal requirements.
- Liaise with Commercial and Legal teams to achieve optimal contract terms and negotiate terms with suppliers/subcontractors.
- Execute agreements with suppliers/subcontractors, prepare detailed handover packs, and manage procurement processes including JDE entries and supplier setup.
- Provide ongoing contract administration support, resolving disputes, managing payments, conducting annual rate reviews, and ensuring insurance compliance.
About you
You will maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Maintaining a proactive approach and a commitment to continuous improvement, you will contribute significantly to the overall success of Thiess operations, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Additionally, you have:
- Extensive experience in procurement and contract facilitation in mining necessary to achieve the confidence and rapport in dealing with internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in achieving contract commercial strategic outcomes in supplier negotiations.
- Previous experience in non-OEM mechanical and servicing categories supporting mining projects and remanufacturing would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Working knowledge of JDE
