Job Overview : We are seeking a Founding UI/UX Engineer to build and lead the visual and interactive identity of the Muses platform. This role blends the creativity of design with the technical expertise of front-end development - an opportunity to shape and implement the look, feel, and functionality of a platform that will become a digital home for thousands of college students and brands. We want someone with an eye for quirky, cinematic visuals, a passion for the ironic, and a deep understanding of what makes Gen-Z tick. Key Responsibilities : - Design and Visual Identity Creation : Develop a compelling and cohesive visual identity for Muses that embodies the energy and eclectic style of the college experience. Embrace a "scrapbook-ey" design aesthetic filled with doodles, icons, graphics, and a mix of ironically academic elements. - Platform Design Leadership : Lead the UI/UX design and development of all platform elements, including user onboarding flows, dashboards, search tools, and campaign management interfaces. - Frontend Implementation : Code out your own designs using modern front-end technologies to ensure a seamless transition from design to implementation. This includes building components, pages, and interactive elements. - Marketing Page Creation : Design and code visually engaging and interactive landing pages that draw in both students and brands, ensuring a consistent style and voice. - Design System Development : Build and maintain a comprehensive design system and style guide to ensure consistency across the platform as it scales. - Prototype and Iterate : Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. Implement designs into code and iterate based on feedback from internal teams and user testing. - Trend Tracking and Application : Stay current with Gen-Z design trends, culture, and technology to ensure that Muses remains fresh, relevant, and appealing. - User-Centric Design : Conduct user research and usability testing with college students to optimize the platform for their specific needs and : - Experience : 1-5 years of experience as a UI/UX designer and/or engineer, with a focus on projects targeted at Gen-Z or younger audiences. Experience in early-stage startups is a plus. - Portfolio : A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create immersive, graphic-heavy, and playful designs with a unique, ironic, and cinematic feel. Examples of "scrapbook-style" or "doodle-centric" projects are highly encouraged. - Technical Skills : Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools. Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React. Experience in building and maintaining design systems. - Gen-Z Insight : Deep familiarity with Gen-Z aesthetics, humor, and cultural references.
