Commissioning Engineers play a vital role in performing Electrical and PLC software commissioning activities within the allocated cost and time scale constraints of the material-handling project. They also ensure the commissioning activities follow the correct methods and standards to meet the requirements of the customer's project. Commission controls systems on-site including electrical and PLC software commissioning and provide support to system test activities and training for the end user. Produce commissioning documentation including commissioning checklists, tests specifications, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments for Automated solutions to BS EN ISO 12100. Interpret electrical schematics and design input information. Ensure systems supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive. Commission Safety Related Part of the Controls system solutions to the regulations and in accordance with BS EN ISO 13849/13850/60204 etc. General Responsibilities: Maintain the Dematic image as a top-quality, professional company, by adopting an honest, professional, and attentive approach. Maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers through the provision of high-quality service. Liaise with other Company Departments, Customers, and sub-contractors. Maintain and use wherever possible Dematic standards. Comply with the company policies. Promote personal and business continuous improvement and development of processes to achieve improved time cost and quality of project delivery. Qualifications & Experience: HNC/HND in Electrical/Controls Engineering as a minimum. Desirable: Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. Experience in a similar role. Good understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA development and commissioning software. Hands-on experience with electrical commissioning. Good understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings. Good understanding of bus systems. Understanding of distributed control systems desirable but not essential. Understanding of automated warehouse desirable but not essential. Ability to travel to customer sites for up to 80% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Full driver’s license to support the travel requirements of the role. Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering. Functional Competencies: Organisational and quality orientation. Orientation and Creativity. Attention to detail. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Ability to make design decisions on a project. Technical Competencies: Fully conversant with automated systems commissioning procedures. Understand and implement relevant design requirements as dictated by the Machinery Directive and its harmonised standards. Use of development software Siemens (S7, TIA) in PLC commissioning. Conversant with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook. Conversant with SCADA – WinCC, Iconics, Ignition desirable but not essential. Conversant with Industrial Networks such as Profinet, Profibus, ASi, EthernetIP or similar. Conversant with PLC and HMI. Special Conditions: Role will require 80% travel to customer sites within the EMEA European region including travel to other Dematic offices or facilities across Europe in the undertaking of duties.
