Job Description

DESCRIPTION

The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for overseeing ATS (Amazon Transportation Services) Middle Mile network. Responsibilities include theft investigations, workplace violence/workplace incident management interviews, and physical security of buildings.

Responsible for establishing risk-based security standards for Amazon Middle Mile operations/locations and the methods for maintaining and improving those standards. The specific areas of focus include loss exposure/loss controls analysis, investigations of theft and loss, physical security systems and controls, contract guarding services, loss prevention education and awareness programs, workplace violence, and loss prevention audit programs. In order to ensure that the said standards and methods are deployed, in respect of strategic plans, consistently across business units within the region, the job holder will develop and maintain key relationships and collaborations with FCs, SCs, DSs, several regional leaders from First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile, as well as other relevant cross-functional teams throughout the organization. The role is field-based.

Key Job Responsibilities
Key deliverables:

  2. Security and Loss Prevention (S&LP) Performance Management;
  3. Compliance to internal standards;
  4. Budgeting and cost management;
  5. Physical Protection systems, technology and services;
  6. Awareness & training for non-S&LP and S&LP personnel;
  7. Handling incidents, investigations and security intelligence;
  8. Crisis Management and resilience;
  9. Key internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities:
  1. Drive the process by which compliance with all Security & Loss Prevention program standards is attained;
  2. Identify, develop and implement additional loss prevention program elements required to meet the unique needs of Amazon businesses;
  3. Effectively partner with operations and support functions in evaluating current and future business processes and initiatives;
  4. Serve as a member of a coordinated team of Loss Prevention in relentlessly pursuing improvements to company-wide loss prevention program efforts;
  5. Conduct investigations of internal and external theft and fraud, and perform interviews when appropriate;
  6. Use tools, data analysis, and collaborate with internal partners to identify inventory defects and create strategic plans in an effort to mitigate losses;
  7. Perform interior and exterior Loss Prevention audits of Middle Mile operations and if necessary, partners, being alert to and responding to any security of Loss Prevention issues noted;
  8. Monitor the Middle Mile facilities for compliance with Amazon security and Loss Prevention policies;
  9. Perform various Loss Prevention inspections, audits, and investigations as required;
  10. Encourage and promote Loss Prevention within the workforce exercising integrity and ethical methods;
  11. Support the development and deployment of cost-effective security systems and solutions to mitigate risks and Modus Operandi;
  12. Establish and use risk assessment processes to identify and prioritize risks and mitigation means;
  13. Liaise and cooperate with law enforcement and industry bodies to support Amazon interests;
  14. Liaise and cooperate with vendors, suppliers, and partners to effectively resolve exposures and mitigate risks;
  15. Positively reflect the Amazon.com Security & Loss Prevention department through public relations and customer service; set a personal example of the highest level;
  16. Demonstrate knowledge of loss prevention best practices in supply chain, distribution and delivery centers to include: application of physical security systems, investigation techniques/laws of arrest, management of contract guard agencies, delivery carriers' loss mitigation techniques;
  17. Recruit, hire, develop and retain candidates who raise the performance bar of the security services organization when needed;
  18. Engage, coach, train, and influence business partners to be an extension of Loss Prevention by equipping them with knowledge to identify leading indicators of Loss Prevention risk and educate them on the appropriate escalation path;
  19. Ensure that team members understand Amazon, World Wide Security Operations, and Loss Prevention vision and values, in order to align performance this is done with your internal and external partners;
  20. Conduct new hire orientation and training.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's Degree;
  2. Experience in security and loss prevention within supply chain, industrial environment, or express distribution and courier services;
  3. Relevant qualification in loss prevention, security management, and administration of justice, related field or equivalent experience is required;
  4. Experience in conducting root cause analysis, prioritizing key factors;
  5. Customer/solution focused with the ability to identify customer needs;
  6. Advanced English (both verbal and written communication);
  7. Availability to travel up to 50% of time and as required by business needs in Brazil.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. CPP, PSP, TAPA training will be noted as a plus;
  2. Interviewing and Interrogation experience desired, and Wicklander and Zulawski certification is a plus;
  3. Operational management experience in distribution and express delivery is advantageous but not essential;
  4. Functional knowledge in developing, implementing, maintaining, and managing security policies and procedures; conducted physical security risk assessments of facilities including manufacturing, distribution, trade, and office.
