About The Role
Our Corporate Solutions team is looking for a full-time experienced Senior Underwriter with an entrepreneurial spirit and a network to further expand our book of business and support the existing book. The underwriter must be able to act as senior and have expertise in the Machinery Breakdown and the ambition to also support our Renewable energy proposition (on-shore as well as off-shore). Our brokers and clients are mainly located in France but we expect the underwriter also to support other European countries.
Together With Our Team You Will
- Extend our footprint as a recognized insurance partner by assessing, proposing and negotiating the insurance conditions for all kinds of large and midsize projects in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, building and heavy civil works sectors as well as operational renewable energy risks.
- Work closely with the French team on clients and brokers.
- Drive and support the sustainability ambitions.
- Assess risks, coverage, terms and conditions. Drive the related underwriting processes and assure appropriate risk management when in a lead position. Triages new submissions quickly and effectively.
- As a member of the global Engineering and Construction community act as a point of reference on technical issues in the region and keep track of new technologies and market trends.
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategies for the region and represent Corporate Solutions in meetings with brokers and clients, reporting your progress regularly to the Head of Engineering & Construction France.
- Support the growth of associated lines of business by actively cross-selling the capabilities of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and contribute to the development of solutions that are tailored to our clients' needs.
- Support our existing book of business and further extend our book of business in the machinery breakdown segment and renewable energy segment.
About You
We are looking for a colleague with the drive to take the initiative and tackle targets in a goal-oriented manner. You feel comfortable in the cultural and business environment of the French market. You can fall back on your experience in the business. Your sales and negotiation skills coupled with your cultural sensitivity and in-depth sector familiarity will form the basis for your success in establishing new contacts and originating new business.
Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering degree in mechanical or electrical or civil or process engineering; or minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional engineer in the industry.
- At least five years Construction & Engineering and/or Power & Utility experience in the insurance industry.
- Strong team player, business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Good broker and client network.
- Excellent negotiating/communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills and high proficiency with common IT applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a high workload.
- Willing to travel a few times a year.
- Languages: French and English are required.
