The Role

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to assist our Executive Vice President and head of the Shipping division. The Shipping division is a very rich environment embracing many departments, ~16,000 people: Trade lines, Worldwide Agency Network, Operations, Digital Transformation, Sales & Marketing, Customer Care.


The Chief of Staff is a highly organized person supporting the Executive VP throughout his day to achieve our ambitious goals. You’ll need to be ready to wear many hats and get involved in a wide variety of strategic projects in coordination with all the Departments of the Group.


Due to its highly cross-functional and direct exposure to top management in Marseille and abroad, this position offers exceptional opportunities towards high-responsibility roles in the medium term. This position is perfect for someone with strong ambitions and willing to grow within CMA CGM.


Key Responsibilities

You will be a strong support to the Head of Shipping division for his internal and external interactions:

  1. ...with the CEO and the other EXCOM members: build presentations and strategic memos for the Group's current strategic questions.
  2. ...with his direct teams: drive and coordinate spot studies, organize a calendar, keep track of multiple projects at the same time, prepare Olivier’s business trips with local teams.
  3. ...with his partners: prepare Ocean Alliance (COSCO, OOCL, EVERGREEN and CMA CGM) meetings along with the Trade lines top management.

You will have to contribute to or lead in-depth studies to contribute to the medium/long-term strategy of the shipping division. This involves analyzing industry trends, evaluating competitive positioning, and identifying growth opportunities. By leveraging data and insights from the whole Shipping organization, you will develop actionable recommendations that align with the division's strategic goals and drive its future success.


You will manage a team of 3 talents to support you on your day-to-day activities.


Qualification and Profile
  1. Top academics (business school, military academy, war college…) is a must have.
  2. Minimum of 8 years experience within an international and challenging environment ideally dealing with strategic projects and operational tasks.
  3. International mindset and exposure.
  4. A real problem solver and troubleshooter.
  5. Extremely organized.
  6. An excellent communicator with the ability to work at all levels of the organization.
  7. Highly adaptable and flexible through shifting priorities.
  8. English and French must be impeccable.
  9. Willing to learn and grow within the firm.
