Job Description
The financial controller role will be a critical role in the financial operations of Goyard in the Americas region. He/she oversees the Americas daily finance operations, monitors the accounts of all the subsidiaries in his/her area, and builds and maintains budgets with the Finance Team and Country Manager. The finance controller is also expected to advise and make proposals on important financial accounting and operational topics. This role reports to the Finance Manager of the Americas region and is in close collaboration with the Finance Department at the headquarters.
- Provide timely and quality data to the accounting team for monthly financial reporting, maintaining sufficient supporting documentation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data (bank sections, deposits, stocks, suppliers, customers, Real Estate, etc.)
- Prepare financial analysis on monthly financial performance (turnover, P&L, margin, expenses) versus budget or revised and historical, by entity and analytical section; manage cost control and produce detailed analyses when necessary; analyze the balance sheets.
- Conduct critical analysis of gaps and strength of proposals to carry out action plans that will add value to the understanding of financial performance.
- Monitor intercompany flows, payments of inter-companies, and re-invoicing among entities.
- Collaborate with the human resources team of the Americas on commission and bonus calculations.
- Improve and/or implement performance management analysis and financial indicators linked to the evolution of the activity; particularly monitor discounts, remittances, deposits, and credits.
- Establish a monthly review of stocks: stock level, turnover rate; analysis by product category and by lifecycle; identify “dormant” stocks and optimize the distribution of stocks in the USA.
- Control the smooth running of physical inventories; verify preparation, roles, and responsibilities; identify risks and plan corrective actions; be in charge of stocks procedures controls with retail and operations teams.
- Build the budget process (revised and budget) on this scope in conjunction with all operational managers.
- Manage and monitor the cash flows of each of the companies in the scope.
- Coordinate with the US tax and accounting consultants on estimating quarter income tax payment and annual income tax filing.
- Liaise with the US sales tax service provider to ensure timely filing and payment of sales tax with required states.
- Support the Finance Manager of the Americas to research and develop internal control procedures to improve efficiency and mitigate risks of local financial operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance (Master’s Degree preferred or relevant experience).
- Minimum of three years of experience in a financial controller position.
- Strong understanding of accounting/financial/operational principles.
- Intermediate Level of Microsoft Excel skills (working knowledge of Power Query and Power BI is a plus).
- Familiarity with CEGID Y2 is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Self-starter with good time management skills when urgent deadlines need to be met.
- Able to critically analyze operational issues and offer resourceful solutions.
- Multi-disciplined and a team player.
- Excel proficiency.
