Summary of Role

You will oversee the installation and commissioning of fire detection systems for our clients, delivering a high-quality service to our customers.

What you will be doing

* System Design: Ensure that through the installation and commissioning process, works undertaken are compliant with all relevant guidelines and British Standards, including internal best practice methods. A good level of understanding of BS5839-1 is required for this role, along with experience in the application of different types of fire detection equipment, across various system protocols.

* Installation: Execute the installation fire detection systems (or modifications to existing), including wired devices of both addressable and conventional types, aspirating detection, beam detection and linear heat detection. Install hardware, cabling, and peripherals according to project specifications and safety guidelines.

* Integration: Integrate fire detection systems into existing infrastructure or site systems, for example Tenant-Landlord fire system signalling links and interfacing to 3rd party equipment. A good understanding of fire detection graphics systems is desirable but not essential, with manufacturer training provided.

* Testing and Commissioning: A good level of understanding and competency in the configuration and programming of fire detection systems across several panel manufacturers, including cause and effect programming. Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of installed fire detection systems to verify functionality, performance, and compliance with client expectations and relevant British Standards. Troubleshoot any issues and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal operation.

* Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of installation procedures, configurations, and system integrations. Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, wiring diagrams, and test results for future reference and troubleshooting purposes.

* Training: Provide training to clients and end-users on how to operate and maintain fire detection systems effectively. Offer guidance on best practices for fire detection system management, system administration, and troubleshooting procedures.

* Customer Support: Offer technical support to clients during and after the installation process. Address any questions, concerns, or issues promptly and professionally to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

* Quality Assurance: Ensure that all installations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the performance and reliability of installed systems and recommend improvements as needed.

What we will need from you

* Proven experience in installing, commissioning and integrating fire detection systems, including aspirating detection, beam detection and linear heat detection products. (Essential)

* Strong technical skills in electrical wiring, system configuration/programming, and integration to 3rd party systems. (Essential)

* A good understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations related to the selection and application of fire detection systems. (Essential)

* Excellent problem-solving and fault finding abilities, with a high level of attention to detail. (Essential)

* Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and vendors. (Essential)

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects or works simultaneously. (Essential)

* Relevant certifications and qualifications (e.g., ECS Gold, FIA training modules, PASMA, IPAF). (Highly desirable).
