Job Description
Westwood Recruitment are on the lookout for a Bookkeeper for our client in Rochdale on a part time basis with the possibility of it turning to full time in the future. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial data, processing transactions, and ensuring that all records are up to date in accordance with UK accounting practices. This is a flexible, part-time role suitable for someone looking to balance work with other commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions
* Track and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all bills are paid on time and client invoices are collected.
* Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that financial records align with bank statements.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
* Process payroll for a small team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK PAYE and pension regulations.
* Track and record business expenses, ensuring they are properly categorised for tax and reporting purposes.
* Assist with month-end financial close, including reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy of the general ledger.
* Prepare monthly financial statements such as profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Qualifications:
* 2+ years experience as a Bookkeeper minimum
* Bookkeeping/accounting certification is preferred but not essential
* Experience with UK accounting and payroll software
* Working knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools.
* Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
* Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Salary & Benefits:
* Salary/Pay is negotiable dependent on experience & qualifications
* Part-time role, approximately 20-25 hours per week
