I am working with a forward thinking and growing business based in Wigan, who are now seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to join their team on a permanent basis due to upcoming retirement.
Your new role
As an Accounts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the company. Your responsibilities will include managing bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledgers, and ensuring healthy bank balances through meticulous financial oversight. You will be responsible for recording, balancing, and chasing payments of retentions, making payments, and handling intercompany transactions. Additionally, you will support directors with future strategies, maintain Sage 50 backups, and ensure data files are accurate and error-free.
Your role will also involve preparing VAT returns, cashflow forecasting, and accounts to trial balance, as well as preparing for year-end procedures and audit adjustments. You will manage weekly and monthly wages, including directors' dividends, and handle HMRC balancing and payments. Overseeing one member of staff, you will be responsible for all company invoicing, negotiating final accounts with Quantity Surveyors, and supporting HR in employee disputes and recruitment as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in financial management and accounting, with experience in using Sage 50. You should have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Experience in handling VAT returns, cashflow forecasting, and year-end procedures is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to support directors with strategic planning will be crucial. Additionally, experience in HR support and recruitment will be advantageous.
