Job Title: Creative Digital Skills Technician & Tutor

Location: ON-SITE, London, UK

Salary Range: £35K - £45K (Dependent on experience)

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday



Overview:


At Victoria College of Art and Design (VCAD), we are building our Fashion and Graphic Design Undergraduate Degree Course Team and are seeking a Creative Digital Skills Technician & Tutor with specific knowledge and experience in Graphic Design. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with the team to design and deliver engaging digital content, that will enable students to explore and develop skills in a range of industry-relevant software.


We are looking for someone with expert knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud software with a positive, adaptable approach who excels in both independent and collaborative environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with initiative and problem-solving abilities, are essential to support students and staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities:


Teaching and Workshop Delivery:


  • Collaborate with course teams to design and deliver dynamic, student centred skills-based content in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, primarily Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro.
  • Link digital skills development with module content, to support students to achieve their learning outcomes and realise their creative ideas.
  • Utilise a range of best-practice teaching methods to support various learning styles, fostering engagement and inclusivity.
  • Support the development of the student experience, aiming to foster creative and critical thinking and essential digital skills



Content Development:


  • Work collaboratively with faculty, management, students and external stakeholders to design, develop, modify and enhance engaging workshop content that reflects industry trends and academic standards and quality.
  • As appropriate, devise, design, manage and deliver the continuous improvement of digital skills teaching resources and online digital skills learning content.
  • Participate in team meetings focused on module delivery and enhancement.



Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:


  • Adhere to all VCAD and Partner institution policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
  • Engage in peer review processes to improve and share good practices across teaching methods.
  • Participate in teaching observation and evaluation processes to ensure good quality support, development and enhancement of teaching practice across faculty.



Student Support and Guidance:


  • Act as an advisor and mentor to students, providing guidance on digital skills matters
  • Organise and participate in student digital skills engagement activities and additional, non-curricular, learning and digital skills support sessions.
  • Address individual student needs, such as reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities, and refer to appropriate support services as necessary.


Professional Development:


  • Participate in academic development activities, keeping abreast of relevant digital skills innovations and developments
  • Participate in industry development activities, staying informed about innovations and advancements within the creative arts sector and emerging trends and standards in Graphic Design.


Administrative Responsibilities:


  • Actively contribute to departmental goals and participate in activities such as knowledge transfer.
  • Support VCAD initiatives, such as diversity and inclusion efforts, digital learning, and community collaboration.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


Essential:


  • An undergraduate degree in relevant area
  • Experience of, and confidence in, the use Adobe Creative Cloud and other similar applications.
  • Enthusiasm to share your digital skills ability to support students to effectively use appropriate software to develop and realise their creative ideas
  • Experience and knowledge of large format digital design and printing
  • Ability to effectively communicate and adapt teaching to meet varied student needs
  • A commitment to innovation and creativity in teaching and learning methods
  • A commitment to undertake learning to develop knowledge in emerging and alternative software


Desirable:


  • Adobe Certification as ‘expert’ or ‘instructor’
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Sector
  • Experience with Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) such as Moodle and an ability to create engaging digital learning experiences for students
  • Experience of mentoring and supporting students and / or colleagues’ professional development.
  • Experience in alternative software for Fashion and Graphic Design applications
  • Experience relating to professional standard photography
  • Confident use of MS Office and general IT skills
