This is a great opportunity for a Paralegal to join a fast paced and friendly Court of Protection team based in Reading.
The ideal candidate for this role will already have some Paralegal experience. You will be enthusiastic and will have a good degree of resilience and composure to provide a high- quality and professional service to our fee earners of the Court of Protection Team and our clients.
You will be part of a rapidly expanding, friendly team and valued for your individual contribution with support to develop your skills and experience by offering training to the right person.
Responsibilities… what will you do?
As Paralegal you will be responsible for:
- Providing support to senior fee earners with their caseloads
- Monitoring expenditure
- Obtaining quotations for professional services
- Arranging insurance policies
- Reviewing expert reports and completing/ updating status sheet
- Preparation of file audits and working budgets
- Arranging for funds transfers, payment of invoices, opening accounts and completing bank forms
- Making arrangements and preparing agendas for Deputy’s annual meetings
- Drafting basic letters and articles
- Carry out research on basic legal matters
- Create OPG reports
- Preparation of Court forms
- Ensure file management, case management and administration are kept up to date using IMANAGE, Elite, Matter Sphere, Microsoft Teams and Outlook 365 packages
- Preparing forms for benefits reviews, PPO checks

- A genuine interest in working with and on behalf of vulnerable people
- Ability to adapt to difficult situations and provide empathy
- Work unsupervised within scope of instructions/protocols from senior fee earners
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines independently
- Experience with financial transactions and calculations
- Excellent IT skills plus good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including some basic drafting
- Good interpersonal skills
