Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Planner with a strong background in residential planning to join our clients team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of planning applications, providing expert advice on residential developments, and ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Producing planning assessments for new site appraisals.
Lead on all planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharging of planning conditions and negotiation of S75 agreements.
Oversee the masterplanning of new sites and liaise with layout designers, engineers and external consultants.
Prepare and commissions planning statements and a range of other planning and technical documents required to support applications.
Organise and attend stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism.
Coordinate and prepare responses to consultations on new and emerging local and national planning policy.
On occasion provide assistance to the Managing Director when making key business decisions and attend regular regional meetings as the relevant subject expert.
Provide mentoring and training junior members of the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management / development planning. For example, in a Local Authority, Planning Consultancy or with Housebuilder/Developer.
Degree / Masters Planning Degree with an RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of planning
Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
Proactive and willingness to take the lead on own initiative and under minimal supervision
Excellent verbal communication skills
Full UK driving licence
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of local and national planning policies and regulations related to residential development.
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex planning data and information.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in report writing and presentation.
