Health & Safety Manager
The role is a dual based role working for ATS Euromaster & Tructyre. You will be part of a nationwide tyre retailer with over 50 years of experience, operating out of more than 250 service centres across the UK. Job Summary
As the Health and Safety Manager you will work closely with the H&S Business Partners and key stakeholders to ensure compliance and a healthy safety culture across both ATS and Tructyre’s Operational sites and 2 office locations is always improving. This is a pivotal role to maintaining our standards in Health and Safety by developing, implementing and monitoring robust health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, customers, and visitors. Developing training materials, producing insightful reports for management and supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of improvement actions are also key to further developing our safety culture and company’s growth in a safe and compliant manner.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure all sites comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, relevant legislation, best practices and Euromaster Group guidance by managing the safety audit process and risk reviews, reviewing
& updating Health and Safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
Monitor legal compliance, updating documentation and practices when regulations change.
Risk Management and Assessment:
Manage the Safety Risk Register and propose, develop and implement relevant mitigating actions and training
Incident Investigation:
Support investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain detailed records of all incidents and corrective measures taken
Create insightful reporting for UK and European Leadership teams to give insight into trends and mitigating actions required
Training and Awareness:
Develop and support the delivery of Health and Safety training programs for staff at all levels to ensure a strong safety culture within the organisation
Ensure the safety training and induction materials are up to date and that all employees, including new starters, are fully aware of health and safety protocols in partnership with the L&D team
Audit and Inspections:
Manage the Health and Safety audit process across all sites to ensure adherence to company policies and statutory requirements.
Prepare detailed audit reports and follow up on any non-compliance issues with key stakeholders
Prepare audit results and actions plans for submission to external and internal auditors
Emergency Planning and Response:
Ensure each site has up to date emergency preparedness plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and first aid.
Ensure all sites have the necessary equipment and trained personnel to manage emergency situations.
Ensure the company emergency response management process is kept up to date and deliver periodic training to the relevant key stakeholders
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders from across the businesses and external regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, including senior management and site teams, to ensure a proactive approach to health and safety.
Manage the company wide dedicated safety weeks by producing materials, engaging key stakeholders, launching and monitoring/measuring the impact
Ensure the UK adheres to Euromaster Groups (parent company) Health and Safety requirements
Continuous Improvement:
Promote a continuous improvement culture by encouraging feedback and ideas from employees on health and safety initiatives and via the Employee Communications Forum
Benchmark against industry best practices to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of safety standards
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date health and safety records, including risk assessments, incident logs, training gap analysis/compliance and audit results.
Provide regular reports to senior management on health and safety performance, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
Role Requirements
Essential
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a health and safety management role, ideally within the service industry or multi-site operations.
Demonstrated experience in risk management, audits, and policy development.
Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards is an advantage.
NEBOSH General Certificate
Highly Desirable
