Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for the major CAPEX project supporting growth projects in both Europe and globally. The candidate collaborates in different worldwide Kemira manufacturing locations with production, site engineering, maintenance, procurement, quality control, Engineering and Technology and has a strong orientation to EHSQ systems. The position will be located in San Giorgio di Nogaro (UD) – Italy site, in Engineering & Technology (E&T), I&W Segment. What you’ll bring to the team: Active participation in major CAPEX projects with focus on supporting expansion and improvement projects in both Europe and globally. Taking lead in process engineering issues relating to CAPEX projects. Working closely with assigned projects and/or sites to supplement process engineering resources and in certain cases to lead. Working as part of a team ensuring that these CAPEX projects deliver Kemira’s requirements in terms of safety, capacity, operations and project time/budget. Providing close support to Project Manager (PM) in delivering major CAPEX projects. Supporting Operational Responsible (OR) Manager during all phases of the project. Taking Project Manager (PM) role for CAPEX projects Working away from home base location as required by project needs. Involvement in conceptual engineering (CE), basic engineering (BE), detailed engineering (DE), construction and commissioning/start-up/handover of these CAPEX projects. Working as contact point for engineering/EPCM contractors on process engineering issues. Preparing with Kemira resources and/or engineering contractors conceptual engineering (CE) studies. Assisting Project Manager to produce the Investment Proposal for a project approval. Working with external engineering companies during the basic engineering (BE) phase and supporting EPC/EPCM contractors during the detailed design/implementation phases. Participation in PHA/HAZOP reviews during all phases of these CAPEX projects. Leadership experience would be an advantage. Providing onsite support during implementation phases of major CAPEX projects including commissioning, start-up and training. Taking the lead during commissioning including supervision of both internal and external resources. Assisting Manufacturing sites in identifying projects relating to safety, emissions reduction, process improvement, capacity increases and energy reduction. Providing support to Technology Leads to produce best practice (BP) and best available technology (BAT) documents. Experience in process controls automation would be an asset. Familiar with DCS systems would be valuable. Experience of process equipment and instrumentation selection is a plus. Education and Working Experience: Engineering degree in Process and/or Chemical Engineering. Other relevant engineering degrees with significant project engineering experience in process industries will also be considered. More than 5 years in a similar role supporting CAPEX projects in the process industries. Familiar with conceptual and basic engineering stages of a project and working with EPC/EPCM contractors. Competencies and skills required: Proven experience in executing and supporting CAPEX projects in process industries. Familiar with project planning tools. Understanding of process safety and environmental requirements. PHA/Hazop experience. Experience of control/automation systems. Awareness of suitability issues. Good problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate options/make recommendations. Self-starter and capable of working with limited supervision. Ability to work in a global organization and be open to new ideas and concepts. Flexible approach to both work and job site locations. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English. A second language would be a preference. Special requirements: Growth mindset to support expansion plans. Already have necessary permissions to work in home office location and to travel globally. Flexibility for travelling globally. Travel requirements are anticipated between 25% to 50% depending on project phases. However, during plant commissioning and start-up, this will increase. Periods of temporary settlement at project site during commissioning and start-up.
