Job Description
Alexander Steele Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading food manufacturer based in East Riding of Yorkshire supplying to major retailers. Due to a period of exciting growth, they are looking to appoint a Horticulturist.
On offer:
* Up to £35k DOE
* 6am - 4pm, 5 days per week including weekend work
* Company pension
The role:
This role will support the company to deliver a safe and smooth running site and oversee the growing of products to meet production plans.
The successful candidate is tasked with ensuring growing houses are stocked, supervise the growing process and strive for optimal crop production.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Working with the operations team to ensure the growing houses are stocked
* Train new team members on disease control
* Ensure growing operations are completed on schedule
* Scout crops for pests and diseases and action accordingly
* Assist harvesting supervisors in process
Candidate requirements:
The business is looking for an individual from an agriculture or horticulture background. You must be a strong communicator, able to work in a fast paced environment, and able to manage a varied workload.
* Experience working in horticulture
* A degree in agriculture or horticulture
* Confident and assertive communication skills
