Job Description
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join our team in Plymouth, working with students who have additional needs. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who require extra support to succeed in their education. Our roles involve working closely with children with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and may include supporting students with challenging behaviours, trauma, ADHD, Autism, and other special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 support for students with EHCPs, focusing on their individual needs and learning goals.
Support students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and a trauma-informed approach.
Implement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support to help students manage their challenges.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor and adapt support for each child.
Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Maintain clear and accurate records of student progress and any incidents, following safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those with additional needs (experience in schools, youth work, care settings, or similar roles is ideal).
A good understanding of conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and trauma-related behaviours.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment.
Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
