We are currently seeking an experienced leader to steer our Global Payroll Team to excellence. As the Global Head of Payroll, you will be responsible for the delivery of the payroll service across all Johnson Matthey (JM) locations. This role is pivotal in the efficient and effective operation of the payroll function, providing a critical service to our employees around the world.
You will also work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of payroll delivery. Your role will be crucial in maintaining employee satisfaction and compliance with local regulations.

You will also work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of payroll delivery. Your role will be crucial in maintaining employee satisfaction and compliance with local regulations.
Your responsibilities:
- Overall accountability for accurate, timely, and efficient payment delivery to employees and third parties.
- Leading payroll team across three regions, ensuring resource adequacy for global payroll delivery.
- Taking charge of payroll processes, procedures, risks, and controls.
- Establishing efficient practices for all payroll input and output requirements.
- Managing payroll financial delegated authority and adherence to approval limits.
- Defining service expectations with the business, identifying and resolving issues impacting payroll effectiveness.
- Providing clear KPI and SLA reporting to cross functional stakeholders.
- Partnering with Global Functions, Centres of Excellence, and Process Owners as well as managing vendor relationships.
- Continuously assessing end-to-end processes for consistency and improvement opportunities to enhance JM's payroll service delivery.
Requirements for the role:
- Solid experience of payroll calculations, procedures, risks, and controls across multiple countries (APAC, EMEA, and AMER).
- Proven experience with Payroll systems (ideally Cloudpay), HR systems (ideally Workday), and Microsoft365.
- Experience in leading teams (ideally, international/global ones).
- Coaching ability, focused on helping individuals improve performance.
- Efficient planning & organising ability with good attention to detail.
- Great communication skills and stakeholder management, ability to build strategic relationships.
- Proactiveness in taking prompt actions and navigating complexity.
- Full professional proficiency in English, other languages considered a plus.
- Experience with time tracking, time tracking systems, different types of benefits and allowance plans, benefit platform systems, and/or payroll compliance would be considered a big plus.
- Availability for ad-hoc international travel may be required occasionally.
