ABOUT THIS ROLE: The Development Associate is a vital role responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks for the Development team. The ideal candidate is a flexible and quick learner, able to work independently and willing to learn contribution services: gift recording, biographical and demographic data entry duties, customer service and onboarding timeline, as well as enjoy individual donor acknowledgment processes, and the research structure of charitable contributions. This individual will assist and learn all aspects of processing gift batches using a CRM software program, produce gift receipts and/or individual acknowledgment letters, make donor thank you calls, and research customer service issues. They will also add and edit biographical data with care to detail, as well as support other administrative duties found within the fundraising department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares data for The Raiser’s Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities. Enter all donations received by the organization (annual fund, restricted funds, capital, grants, special, gifts in kind, and employee giving). Using Blackbaud Online Express and other third-party platforms to create credit card and recurring batches. Create and maintain constituent records as needed, such as address changes, employee status changes, life changes, and so on. Maintain data integrity in internal databases and systems, as directed by the Contribution Manager and Assistant Director of Development. Assisting with monthly database maintenance tasks as assigned and making recommendations for changes/upgrades as needed. Troubleshoots routine Raiser’s Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Online Express, Mobile Cause, and AQ2 System issues. Escalating complex questions, or issues to Contribution Manager and Assistant Director of Development. Prepare gift entry reports and download third-party distribution reports when needed. Work on assigned projects under direct supervision. Produce gift documentation, including acknowledgment letters or receipts, tribute letters, and gift matching forms. Share direct contact donor relations duties of answering donor queries via telephone and email, taking donations, and fulfilling other donor requests. Ensure the security and sensitive handling of confidential donor and/or financial information. Provide backup support to the Development Associate and Data Entry Associate I during periods of peak volume or absences, check coding, deposit check scan/upload, gift processing, and acknowledgments. Attend and participate in regular team meetings, seminars, or webinars. Provide support for fundraising events including virtual, such as event setup and teardown, registration and check-in, and data tracking, while representing the Company and adhering to company policy, mission, core values, and dress code. Periodically drive to job site location and other places of business for specific ministry purposes. Development's cross-departmental training exploration. Obtain Raiser’s Edge fundamentals certification within 6-12 months of your hire date. Job duties, tasks, work hours, and work requirements are subject to change at any time. Requirements Education: Associate’s Degree or higher preferred. Raiser’s Edge Fundamental Certification (to be obtained within 6-12 months of hire date). Experience: Data Entry and experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills; proven presentation abilities. Must have computer experience, especially with Microsoft Office Software (Word and Excel). Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well and support relationships with all different areas of the organization. Ability to prioritize data entry projects and view work for accuracy. Travel Demands: Reliable transportation needed to travel to and from St. Matthew’s House events and job sites. Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities. Physical Demand: Relatively little physical effort is required; however, must be able to: Move about the facility and possess the manual dexterity required to operate the computer and other business equipment.
