Health and Safety Manager (MEICA Focus) - Infrastructure Projects
About the Role:
My client is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager with a strong background in MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation) to join their team. This exciting role will be focused on ensuring health and safety compliance across a large-scale infrastructure project, with particular responsibility for reviewing and approving subcontractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and SOPs (Safe Operating Procedures), ensuring adherence to AWS (Approved Work Standards).
This is a full time working from home position, so 5 days a week remote working. Looking for someone to start immediately, and the contract goes in to Summer of 2025.
You will be responsible for conducting site audits, leading Toolbox Talks, and promoting a strong culture of safety and wellbeing across the workforce. As a SHEQ Manager, you'll provide leadership and advice on safety protocols, assist with incident investigations, and ensure continuous improvement in safety performance across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and Approve RAMS & SOPs: Ensure subcontractors' Risk Assessments and Method Statements comply with AWS standards.
Site Audits and Compliance: Regularly monitor and audit site operations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Toolbox Talks & Safety Briefings: Deliver engaging Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and wellbeing campaigns to promote site safety.
Training & Near Miss Reporting: Support site teams by providing safety training, encouraging proactive near miss reporting, and advising on safety best practices.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing actions to prevent recurrence.
Collaboration with the HSE: Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) during site visits and ensure adherence to legislative requirements.
Promote Safety Culture: Foster a culture of continuous safety improvement and innovation, encouraging the reporting of safety concerns and promoting accident prevention.Skills and Qualifications:
NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualification (NEBOSH Construction or National General Certificate preferred).
Proven experience in health and safety management within MEICA-focused infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of RAMS, SOPs, AWS standards, and compliance.
IOSH membership and other relevant H&S certifications.
Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and safety audits.
Strong communication skills with experience delivering training, Toolbox Talks, and safety briefings.
Knowledge of electronic safety management systems (e.g., Procore, ISNetworld).
