Learning Support Practitioner
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to provide essential support to students with special educational needs, particularly focusing on autism at the secondary level (key stage 4). This is a temporary role with the possibility of a permanent contract after completing 12 academic weeks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal development of students with special educational needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide individualized support and guidance to students aged 16-18 with special educational needs, particularly focusing on autism, to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
* Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students with autism and other special educational needs aged 16-18.
* Create a positive and inclusive learning environment to encourage the holistic development of each pupil aged 16-18.
* Differentiate instruction and adapt materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with special educational needs, including those aged 16-18.
Qualifications
* Prior experience working with students aged 16-18 with special educational needs, especially autism, at the secondary level (key stage 4).
* Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting.
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills to effectively engage and support students with diverse learning needs, including those aged 16-18.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the overall development and well-being of students with special educational needs aged 16-18.
* Confident behaviour management strategies.
* Must possess a valid enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to pay for a new one.
Day-to-day
The role involves working from 8:45am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only) and offers a pay of £85-95 per day (paid weekly).
