Job Description
Purpose of the Role
In this role, you will oversee the activities and deliverables of design consultants, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet client requirements. Acting as the technical lead for permanent works design, you will manage design processes, track progress, and collaborate with both internal teams and external partners. Your expertise in construction and design will help drive continuous improvement and innovation, while ensuring compliance with safety and contract standards. This is a key role for those with a passion for design management and a track record of success in complex civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage design consultant activities across multiple consultants where required.
Track and report input and output deliverables to the Project/Engineering Manager.
Support the Design Manager in ensuring all deliverables are completed as per the design programmes.
Review and manage the design deliverable schedule and ensure all designs meet the required standards, resolving any issues.
Manage Technical Queries and ensure proper follow-up and communication on design-related issues.
Oversee BIM requirements for both permanent and temporary works in collaboration with the BIM/CAD Technician.
Collaborate with external suppliers, subcontractors, and attend meetings with external parties, following up on assigned actions.
Ensure compliance with design management processes as required by contract and manage provision of drawings to the project team.
Assist with the recruitment and development of engineers and technicians, promoting a positive learning environment and best practices.

Key Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of construction methods and design, with the ability to coach others.
Significant experience in both construction and design, ideally within heavy civil engineering and tunnelling projects.
Understanding of Principal Designer duties and experience in Digital Engineering practices in design and construction.
Proven track record of managing multiple design consultants and interfacing with external parties.
Additional Duties:
Assist with recruitment and development of engineers at all levels.
Promote our company to clients, designers, and other organisations, maintaining strong professional relationships.
Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) Responsibilities:
Implement CDM requirements and adhere to company safety procedures as outlined in individual responsibilities for HSQE matters
