About Camden

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We're home to the most important conversations happening today and we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all

What You'll Be Doing

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced EDT Senior Practitioner in Camden's out of hours Emergency Duty Team.

The EDT Senior Practitioner will respond appropriately to any social work emergencies out of normal office hours that cannot wait until the working day. This will include those from Children and Families, Looked-after Children, Youth Offending, Vulnerable Adults, Learning Disability and Mental Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing child at risk referrals, and working with the police and hospitals to ensure that children and young people are kept safe until work can be picked up the next working day.

The EDT SP will act as the corporate parent on behalf of the local authority to ensure well-being of looked after children. Support and advice will also be given to families in cases of urgency.

Similarly, the EDT Senior Practitioner will respond to and resolve issues concerning vulnerable adults, and those with severe and enduring Mental Health concerns, including formal Mental Health Act Assessments

Additionally, you will offer supervision and support to any social workers working out of office hours, and help plan the work of any individual sessional workers specifically allocated to EDT.

Over a 10 week rota, the EDT senior practitioner works as a lone practitioner 10 night shifts on weeknights (5pm-9am) and 8x 12hr weekend slots (4 weekend out of 10) (Pro-rata for part time workers)

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
