Job Opportunity: Teaching Assistant / Cover Supervisor (Alternative Provision)
Location: Liverpool
Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and passionate Teaching Assistant (TA) or Cover Supervisor to join a dedicated team in an Alternative Provision setting in Liverpool. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) or similar environments, demonstrating a strong ability to manage behaviour and support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and complex trauma backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students with SEN, SEMH, and trauma-related needs.
Assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for students.
Deliver high-quality learning support, including managing small groups or supervising whole classes in the absence of the teacher.
Implement behaviour management strategies effectively to encourage positive learning behaviours.
Foster strong, trusting relationships with students, understanding and responding to their individual needs.
Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support student progress.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or similar setting.
Expertise in behaviour management and supporting students with complex needs.
A solid understanding of SEN, SEMH, and trauma-informed practices.
A flexible, resilient, and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable students.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability to work Monday to Friday.
Desirable:
Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or behaviour management.
Additional training in trauma-informed approaches or de-escalation techniques.
A proven ability to engage hard-to-reach learners and build rapport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
