Exciting Opportunity: Planner for Major Infrastructure Projects in Scotland
Our client, a respected leader in civil engineering and infrastructure, known for its commitment to staff development, low turnover, and focus on renewable projects, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner. This role will be pivotal in planning and delivering a major highway project in North Scotland, covering essential aspects such as earthworks, drainage, access tracks, structures, and utilities.
Based at the head office in North Lanarkshire with regular site visits to North Scotland, this role includes a company car and subsistence package.
Key Responsibilities
Tender Stage:
Work closely with the Planning Lead or Bid Manager to ensure all programmes meet planning standards and guidelines.
Define the planning scope, constraints, and key contract requirements.
Identify major quantities and factors affecting schedules.
Collaborate with Operations and Estimators on construction outputs and working hours.
Determine methods of construction, sequencing, and commissioning with the Operations and Bid teams.
Prepare essential planning documents like programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports.
Develop tender programmes and supporting information aligned with tender requirements.
Reconcile resources, applying resource-levelling techniques as required.
Coordinate with third parties to resolve potential issues.
Contract Stage:
Manage and maintain the Contract Programme to meet planning standards.
Direct the planning strategy and sequencing of Contract Programme activities.
Share the Contract Programme with the Project Lead and Project Team for client updates.
Oversee all project planning and programming to ensure effective contract execution.
Support BIM Coordinators with project or tender deliverables.
Set up lean visual programmes to aid the Project Team in on-time delivery and enhance productivity, performance, and safety.
Who We’re Looking For
Experience: Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Site Agent, with substantial planning experience in small to medium construction and engineering projects.
Technical Skills: Competence in planning techniques, tools, and knowledge of tender and contract documentation.
Project Management Knowledge: Expertise in planning, programming, and progress monitoring, with a focus on risk management.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, driving positive results and fostering a collaborative environment.
Construction Knowledge: Solid understanding of the construction market, including methods, equipment, plant, and labour needs.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage at all business levels.
Qualifications: A relevant CSCS card is essential.
