The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler to join our friendly team at Lovat Fields Retirement Village in Milton Keynes.
We are excited to be recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler to support the village's commitment in delivering ExtraCare's mission of “better lives for older people”.

Role Details: -
- Role: Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler
- Hours: 33 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Salary: £26,102 pa (pro-rata FTE)
- Location: Lovat Fields, Japonica Lane, Milton Keynes, MK15 9LE
Extracare does not participate in the current “UK Visa Sponsorship” scheme, and we would not be able to facilitate sponsorship.
Essential requirements
- Knowledge of Dementia and Mental Health conditions and the ability to provide one to one support to people living with those conditions.
- Caseload management experience
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of using cognitive assessments
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to develop empathic relationships with residents.
- Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect.
- Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure.
- Respect for other people's rights of autonomy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to apply your knowledge of psychosocial and solution focused interventions to residents' problems.
- Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Formal qualification in relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling)
- Good understanding of the psychosocial approach
- Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia
- Be able to describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia symptoms.
- Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with common mental health conditions
