Posting Context Statement
This position at the Franklin H. Pitkin Forest Nursery supports reforestation and restoration efforts. Key duties include processing seedling orders, preparing invoices, and handling payments. The role involves maintaining the nursery's website, online sales portal, and seedling inventory, as well as ordering supplies and coordinating shipments and pickups. Outreach responsibilities include answering inquiries from customers, landowners, extension agents, government agencies, and the public, providing nursery tours, and attending conferences. The role reports to the Director of the Pitkin Nursery and requires effective collaboration with other staff.
Position Overview
Assist with administrative tasks including preparing correspondence, maintaining records, maintaining calendars, monitoring office inventory, ordering supplies when necessary and completing various assignments as needed. This position may be the first point of contact for the department, and is tasked with ensuring that information flows accurately, efficiently and effectively while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

- Manage records and documents
- Perform general administrative support tasks such as proofreading and receiving and distributing mail; may handle cash
- Greet visitors, callers and/or email inquiries, determining nature and purpose and directing them to specific destinations/individuals/information

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
- Organizing tasks to meet deadlines
- Participating in teams to accomplish shared goals
- Using computer software and applications for word processing, email and internet searches
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to travel occasionally
- Must be at least 18 years old at time of hire
- Considerable experience working in an office setting
- Some experience with web development and maintenance
- Some experience supervising employees
- Some experience managing storefronts of online sales platforms, such as Marketplace
- Knowledge of nursery management and reforestation
- Interpersonal and communication skills, including email, technical writing, and phone etiquette
- Familiarity with accounting and financial management principles
- Ability to work with varying groups of people
- Customer service experience
- Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records
- Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move 60 pounds
