Job Summary: The Interventional Radiology Technologist is a member of the Interventional Radiology (IR) and works closely with the Interventional Radiologist and Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care, before, during and after Interventional Radiology cases. Possesses ability to scrub, assist and record all Interventional Radiology cases and is able to operate the equipment in the Interventional Radiology lab.
Interventional Radiology Technologist Key Accountabilities:
Performs in the scrub and recorder roles and provides assistance to the circulator
Provides an environment that lends to a safe practice by incorporating the needs of the patient
Assists Registered Nurse in collecting patient data, identifying priority problems, reports variances to the RN and physicians (radiologist and anesthesiologist), and documents findings in the radiologic documentation
Analyzes collected data and uses professional judgement to select the most appropriate and cost-effective method for completing the expected procedure
Anticipates and adjusts rapidly to the equipment/supply need of the interventional radiologist
Assists in the education of the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate regarding the expected procedure
Demonstrates proper technique for catheters/guidewire exchanges and power injector operation
Operates fixed and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment; selects and modifies technical factors based on patient’s age, weight, and physical condition to produce optimal images while keeping radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable
Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff
Provides inventory control for vascular and interventional specific supplies such as catheters, guidewires, stents, procedure sets, etc.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited college or school of Radiology Technology or equivalent
Certification and current registration as a radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
Florida State License as a Certified Radiologic Technologist
Certification and current registration in Cardiovascular Interventional Radiographer (CV), Cardiac Interventional Radiographer (CI) or Vascular-Interventional Radiographer (VI) by the ARRT is preferred.
BLS within one year of hire
Work Hours: 40 hours per week; Candidate will have the option to work either 7am - 5:30pm (4-10 hour shifts) OR 7am - 3:30pm M-F. Weekday/weekend on-call is required.
Work Location: St. Petersburg, FL
Salary Range: Minimum 32.71 per hour - Maximum 52.34 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
