Job Description
**Job Title:** Medical Laboratory Scientist
**Job Specialty:** Clinical Laboratory Services
**Job Duration:** 15 weeks
**Shift:** Night shift schedule of 7 on/7 off, 10-hour shifts
**Guaranteed Hours:** 35 hours per pay period
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year
**License:** MT(ASCP) or CLS (ASCP)
**Certifications:** MT(ASCP) or CLS (ASCP)
**Must-Have:**
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in data collection, laboratory procedures, clinical laboratory, blood bank maintenance, statistical analysis, workflow management, and quality control
**Job Description:**
- Perform and interpret designated laboratory procedures.
- Conduct serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic (blood bank), and microscopic procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Perform accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens/collections according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.
- Report results in a timely manner and troubleshoot instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen/product problems using standard laboratory techniques as required.
- Perform laboratory quality control, including reporting discrepancies and troubleshooting according to established procedures and protocols.
- Take appropriate action to ensure quality results/products are provided for use by physicians, nurses, and patients.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment to meet all quality requirements.
- Perform verification tests on new products, instruments, and procedures, which include comparisons and statistical analysis as requested.
- Conduct quality audit data collection, technical policy/procedure development, inspection assistance, and manage donor files under the direction of laboratory management.
- Maintain workflow in the clinical laboratory through proficiency in testing, maintaining work areas, supply stock, monitoring, and assistance in management of inventory.
- Assist in training and orientation of new associates.
- Promote mission, vision, and values of the organization and abide by service behavior standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
