Job Description

Job Description BAE Systems has a job opening for an Engineering Tools Technical Support Analyst. As a key member of the Engineering Tools team, the support analyst is responsible for the day-to-day support of the Software Engineering application environments across BAE Systems. The vast majority of tools are commercial (COTS) or open source. General support activities include developing and executing installation procedures, application testing, troubleshooting, responding to service desk break/fix tickets and service requests, how-to questions and documenting changes to the production environment in accordance with internal and DFARS policies and procedures.

The candidate should be customer service oriented, attentive to detail, able to prioritize and managed multiple tasks, self-motivated and work well in teams. Flexibility in approach to finding solutions, the ability to understand and act on the customer needs and priorities, and learn new technologies quickly are some of the qualities a successful candidate will have. You will also need to be willing to respond to occasional off-hours outages and take part in subsequent service restoration efforts.

Required skills include a strong knowledge and working experience of Software Engineering Tool environments. Examples include Atlassian suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence), Subversion, Gitlab, Collaborator. Duties include the following:
  • Plan, execute, deploy, and support of Software Engineering Tools.
  • Administration and operational support of multiple Software Engineering application environments across BAE Systems.
  • Troubleshoot performance, availability and overall health of tool environments.
  • Assist in planning and upgrading of applications using Windows and Linux servers and client environments.
  • Create and maintain documentation for engineering application client and server installations and upgrades.
  • Support users in a timely manner using ServiceNow Help Desk ticketing system.
  • Interested candidates should have good communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to rapidly learn new tools.
  • Candidate should exhibit sound judgement, initiative and self-motivation, and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail, solid communication and teamwork skills will be required to work effectively.
  • Close collaboration with peers, Engineering and Engineering Tools personnel is essential.
  • The ability to manage time effectively while dealing with a variety of issues in a dynamic environment will be key to the success of this individual.
#IJS Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering discipline or Information Systems) and 0-2 years' work experience
  • Proficient in Red Hat Linux.
  • Ability to proficiently document technical solutions in a clear and comprehensible manner.
  • Ability to create and understand Scripting languages for automation purposes. Examples include (bash, batch, PowerShell, python, groovy).
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize work, as required, to meet dynamic customer service environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, in either a lead or participant role.
  • General understanding of Engineering disciplines and tools.
  • Must be able to obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Working experience administering server/client application environments. Examples include Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence), Gitlab or Coverity.
  • CompTIA Security + certification (or ability to obtain).

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $56200 - $95500

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
