Our client is seeking a Senior Underwriter specializing in Excess Casualty to join their expanding team. They seek entrepreneurial-minded professionals with robust casualty underwriting skills to leverage their expertise and relationships within the wholesale brokerage community to continue building and growing their book of business.
Summary:
The position focuses on Excess Casualty underwriting, primarily working with retail agents, although there is some collaboration with wholesalers. Strong retail agency relationships are essential for this role. This role deals with admitted business in their Unsupported Excess Casualty division, handling Products Liability, Real Estate, Excess Service Contractors, and Smaller Construction Contractor business. While the position is fully remote, candidates near larger cities are preferred (though this is not a deal-breaker).

Functions:
- Analyze risks, evaluate insurance applications, and determine appropriate coverage.
- Collaborate with brokers, gather necessary information, and make underwriting decisions.
- Participate in the development and execution of annual business plans for the division, including a profitable underwriting strategy, in coordination with the management team.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in wholesale/excess casualty underwriting, with a focus on small to mid-market sized businesses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software skills.
