The Business Solutions Analyst is a key member of the Information Media and Technology department's solutions management team that is responsible for providing ongoing support to stakeholders, performing regular research and discovery, as well as analysis and support for various technology projects from initial requirement identification through implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to Solutions Management/Project Management/Product Management teams.
  • Works with the business to capture and document requirements using a range of techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, user stories, task and workflow analysis.
  • Discovers and documents the as-is process by applying various process modeling techniques.
  • Participates in recurring Project Review Board (PRB) and other associated business and technology meetings as needed.
  • Works independently on small to large and complex projects without the need for supervision.
  • Understands how reports and data are used in the business units and is able to create reports from Salesforce or Campus Vue using Excel and/or Tableau.
  • Manage the logistics, scheduling and prioritization for all projects and tasks assigned.

Competencies:
  • Business:
    • 3 or more years of experience in solution/product management and user relations
    • Basic or better business process planning skills
    • Basic knowledge of planning for consistent standards and processes
    • Basic business modeling skills
    • Basic knowledge of project management methodologies
    • Basic knowledge of the SDLC (software development life cycle)
  • Design:
    • Basic ability to effectively interview individual users or groups of users to develop user stories
    • Basic ability to lead the capture of user requirements through user stories
    • Basic ability to develop specifications for solution developers, or other solution providers
    • Basic ability to prepare and deliver presentations
  • Teamwork
    • Desire to learn and help others
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Excellent organizational skills, including project planning
    • Methodical, consistent and patient approach to problem solving
    • Participatory approach to teamwork, ability to foster an environment of creativity and collaboration
    • Active participation in waterfall and agile development processes
    • Ability to help prioritize and juggle many small, large, and important projects
    • Perform strategic planning, coordination of a roadmap, development, construction, and implementation plans
    • Inter-departmental coordination of application release cycles, training, and risk management
    • Advanced project management skills
  • Technical abilities
    • Basic understanding of web application design
    • Basic understanding of cloud application design
    • Basic understanding of database structures
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline - or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of two years work experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Professional development certificates, Salesforce Trailhead Badges, or other Enterprise solution trainings are welcome and recognized, but not mandatory
Computer/Equipment Skills:
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in a diverse technological environment
