Job Description
Are you an experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant?
Smile Education is supporting a large and inclusive SEND Setting in Telford in the search for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for students across the education setting. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, experienced, and passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support for students with additional needs across KS1 through to post 16
Implement and follow Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to meet individual student needs.
Conduct observations and monitor student progress, feeding back to teachers and SENCOs.
Work independently and take initiative to support students' learning and behavioural needs.
Collaborate with external professionals such as speech therapists and educational psychologists.
Attend staff training, briefings, and meetings to stay informed and develop professionally.Requirements:
Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., SEN Support, Childcare, Education).
Recent experience working with SEN students, ideally in a one-to-one capacity.
Strong understanding of EHCPs and the ability to follow individualised support plans.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider school team.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external professionals.
Must have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education.
Able to provide a minimum of 2 references covering the past years. Minimum of 1 should comment on your interaction with children.What We Offer:
